Circuit Clinical Participates in Annual Dragon Boat Festival
A team of Circuit Clinical employees, friends, and family gathered at Buffalo RiverWorks to compete in the Annual Buffalo Niagara Dragon Boat Festival. The mission of the day-long event was to raise money for Hope Chest, a Buffalo-born, non-profit organization dedicated to the physical and emotional well-being of Breast Cancer Survivors.
Race day started early, with qualifying rounds throughout the morning, and ran late, with the afternoon filled with division semi-finals and finals. All teams were guaranteed three races – one qualifying race and two division races. In between races, teams were free to roam about the RiverWorks campus soliciting the many raffles available.
The Circuit Clinical Team, united in matching turquoise capes donned with the letter ‘T,’ paddled for Tammi Lencke who is a breast cancer survivor and wife of Circuit employee, Steve Lencke. A drummer sat tall at the bow of the boat while twenty-paddlers filled the boat and a steer person brought up the rear. The Circuit Clinical Dragon Boat Team had just one practice session three days prior to the race. In 2017, Circuit Clinical’s rookie team qualified for the ‘B Division’ and placed second with a silver medal. In 2018, the team qualified for the top ‘A Division’ and placed 6overall from 48 boats in total.
The day was motivating, inspiring, and fun. Forty-eight teams rowed that sunny, spring day. Almost one-thousand paddlers who operated in teams of synchronization raced up the river in support of Hope Chest and all breast cancer survivors. Circuit Clinical loves to be a part of community events, do volunteer work and donate within the Buffalo area. This past year we were apart of donating blankets for ‘Warm Up WNY’ and the Salvation Army’s Holiday Giving Tree.
